Live music in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap
Get your groove on at Metro Cafe in the capital’s airport
This August, Miss Sarawan Acoustic Duo performed its special sound, evoking 1960s Cambodia at Phnom Penh Airport’s Metro Cafe. Every Thursday and Sunday throughout the month, talented musicians Mealea Lay and Joe Wrigley played the musical classics of Cambodia’s “Golden Era” while customers enjoyed cocktails and dinner, transported to another era while waiting to be transported to other cities.
This September, traditional music festival comes to Siem Reap
September 6-8, Cambodia Living Arts’ Heritage Hub will host a free festival dedicated to the musical traditions of the Greater Mekong as well as Japan. More than 40 musicians will gather together at a handful of intimate venues in the historic city of Siem Reap to give public performances, workshops, and discussions. REPfest “is a platform through which all the participating artists can share what the arts mean to them, and the roles and values arts play in societies around Asia,” said Song Seng, CLA’s Heritage Hub Manager.
