Cambodia Airports continues to inspire youths and support the most vulnerable families
School children given personal tours of facilities and aircraft, while 33 of tons of rice are distributed to low-income households.
To mark Children’s Day on May 31, each of our three airports hosted 50 children from primary schools in their vicinity again this year. Most of the children selected, with the help of their schools, were from marginalized or single-parent households – children who might never before have thought a career in the aviation industry was a possibility for them.
They were given VIP tours of airport facilities and aircraft, and were also introduced to aviation professionals who encouraged them to realize it is possible to make the leap from childhood dreams to adult realities. One airline participated in the event at each airport: Malindo Air in Phnom Penh, Sky Angkor Airlines in Siem Reap and JC Airlines in Sihanoukville.
Cambodia Airports also teamed up with the Cambodia Red Cross on May 8 to celebrate the 155th anniversary of the Red Cross to distribute rice to low-income families. In total 33 tons were donated. The donations were particularly welcomed by 25 families in Siem Reap whose homes had been destroyed or damaged by storms. Rice is the staple food in Cambodia. Its prices is highest this time of year, when the planting season begins and supplies are short.
