Frequent flyers cheer new carrier’s debut
Cambodia Airways debuted in July with premium services at budget prices on its first two routes linking the capital to Siem Reap and Sihanoukville.
The logo of the latest entrant in the local aviation market pays homage to the Kingdom’s heritage with an image of the iconic Angkor Wat, but that’s not the only reason the arrival of Cambodia Airways is generating excitement. The carrier is celebrating its debut with low-cost tickets.
Frequent flyers are among those applauding its arrival. The carrier began with a promotion offering 10 one-way tickets for US$199 on its first two domestic routes.
It began daily flights between the capital and Siem Reap on July 10 and followed with flights between Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville four days later. On July 21 it opened its Phnom Penh-Macau route with one-way tickets as low as US$92.77 for its thrice weekly flights.
The new airline’s swift expansion has been carefully planned, with more destinations in East Asia and beyond to be added as it expands its fleet from Airbus A319s to include A320s.
The new carrier, Cambodia’s sixth, offers one-way fares as low $23.09 for domestic flights. Tickets can be purchased on the airline’s website or delivered to travel agencies throughout the Kingdom.
