Shuttle train debut links city center to Phnom Penh International Airport
Transport minister hails new service as Cambodia Airports increases convenience with check-in booths at train station.
April 10 marked a milestone for transport development in Cambodia with the debut of an airport train service linking the city to Phnom Penh International Airport. The project was inaugurated by H.E. Transport Minister Sun Chanthol, who described it as a boost to “national pride.”
The shuttle train, which is free until end of July, allows airport users to avoid traffic congestion and reduce travel time. It takes just 35 minutes to travel by train between the airport and the city center. To enhance convenience Cambodia Airports has set up check-in booths at the train station, allowing passengers to check-in online with major airlines.
The service, operated by Royal Railway, boasts air conditioned carriages with television screens and hygienic washrooms. Airport users can access the trains near the airport's public parking area and from the city at the train station near Vattanac Tower. Users describe the new option as reliable and comfortable, saying they no longer have to worry about being stuck in traffic or having to leave Phnom Penh early to avoid congestion on highways and roads.
