Did you hear? Health and Safety Week was all about protecting your ears
Every year VINCI Airports unifies all 46 of its airports for a Health and Safety Week. The aim is to promote work safety and to address specific areas that could use a refresher, selected to address individual airport’s needs and chosen annually.
This year’s theme for Cambodia Airports was ear protection. While it may seem like a small thing (literally and figuratively), damage to ears can cause big, life-altering problems. And we aim to impress upon our staff just how important it is to use safety equipment provided for their protection.
The message we shared extends beyond simply on-the-job safety: ear damage from listening to loud music over a long period of time has the same effect as a loud aircraft engine, and unfortunately it can cause permanent damage, regardless of if one feels pain or not.
During Health and Safety Week, we collected feedback from our staff and supervisors about how they use ear protection, conducted sound measures to ascertain if certain locations should require ear protection, and reviewed the company policy as well as equipment to ensure that there aren’t any safety gaps.
