Staying the course in September
Passenger growth continued across all airports this past month.
As Cambodia prepares to enter its dry season, the airports celebrate the conclusion of another successful month. All three airports have experienced an average growth of 21% in passengers since the start of 2018 when compared to the same months in 2017, and Cambodia Airports is well on its way to closing out its most successful year to date.
The month of September alone saw a 21% increase in foot traffic across all airports. Sihanoukville International experienced a particularly strong bump in passengers in comparison to the same month last year, as it welcomed over 61,000 people -reflecting 155% growth from 2017. While Siem Reap saw more modest growth in passengers, Phnom Penh International Airport welcomed an increase of 22% in foot traffic from last year.
The volume of cargo flown into and out of Phnom Penh International continued to rise as the capital welcomed 24% growth from last year. Although Siem Reap took a hit in this category as its cargo tonnage dropped by 45%, the airport anticipates a rise in cargo associated with the upcoming busy season.
